If you have had an opportunity to see AmaZulu’s 19-year-old Nkanyiso Zungu play then you will get a sense that the future of South African football is on track.
Zungu is hard working, skillful and most importantly enjoys his game which makes it hard not to notice him when he is playing.
Zungu, who signed for AmaZulu from Durban FC, said that “playing basic football” is one of the things he has learnt since joining the NFD team.
“It’s a great honour to be here at the club and one of the things that I have learnt so far is the importance of keeping things basic at all times. I am also happy that my hard work is paying off in the field.
“The challenge of playing in the NFD is there, but I am happy with how things have unfolded for me since arriving,” he said.
One of the goals for AmaZulu is to win the NFD and get back to the PSL top-flight, and Zungu says that the players are determined to do well.
“We all want to win and that win over the weekend against Mamelodi Sundowns boosted our confidence and motivated us to continue doing well in the league.
“At this level it is important to think about the team and take instructions from the coach so that you work on achieving that one goal,” he said.
