AmaZulu captain Tapelo Xoki has tipped Usuthu to build on their last league performance which saw them collect a point against Orlando Pirates at home as they prepare for an unpredictable Highlands Park side away on Tuesday night.
The match will be played at the Makhulong Stadium. Kickoff 19:30.
Both sides will be looking to register their first Absa Premiership win while the Lions of the North have had the better form of the two having enjoyed a good cup run in the MTN 8.
The 24 year old Khayelitsha born defender pinned down last Tuesday’s encouraging performance to a strong-willed team effort.
‘’The performance was great – the effort was awesome, it was a strong will from everyone. They all gave their hundred percent so we only can improve from here.’’
“I believe that we’re improving game by game. We are getting there, we’ve kept a clean sheet which is also good for the confidence of the team,” he added.
Cavin Johnson’s team lost regular shot stopper Siyabonga Mbatha at King Zwelithini last week due to a muscle injury prior to kickoff, but the Usuthu faithful’s fears were put to bed as young Neil Boshoff did a sterling job in manning the goal posts.
“Overall despite not yet getting a win there’s a lot of positives to count. We played our hearts out last week”
“Neil Boshoff’s debut was also great for the team, he also did well. Now we just need a win.’’ he said.
A far bumpier challenge may be on the cards however at Makhulong Stadium for Xoki and his teammates with their opponents still almost reeling from last season’s 2-1 heist where their unbeaten home run was stolen by the KZN outfit.
“It’s not going to be an easy game for us, especially going away game, we will have to try to get some points away from home as early as we can this season.”
“Highlands Park are a physical side, they play an old school type of football so we will have to be ready physically.” He added.
“No one is going to give away points for free, so we have to be ready to fight and to impose our will on everyone,” he concluded.Share
