AmaZulu left-sided player and set piece specialist Marc Van Heerden says he wants to shift his focus to the national team following his recent call up to Bafana Bafana.
Van Heerden was part of the Bafana Bafana Cosafa Cup squad that Shakes Mashaba announced just before the last few games of the Absa Premiership season.
Van Heerden, who is a cornerstone in the AmaZulu side that recently got relegated to the National First Division, said he just wants to do well for the country.
“A lot has been going on through my mind following the relegation, but I have shifted my focus on doing well for the national team. With the call up I have not really had much time to think about what happened as I had shifted my focus on doing well for the national team,” said Van Heerden.
Although he is not brand new in the national set up, Van Heerden said it is always an honor to wear the national colours.
“It is really good to be back in the Bafana setup, playing for my country is always a privilege. Being able to wear the national colours and playing in front of our countrymen is special,” he said.
Speaking about AmaZulu, Van Heerden said that he gave it his all and his family and God played a crucial role in his performance.
“Just before the final match I meditated and set some time alone with God and prayed for a good game. Even on the last game I did the same,” he said.Share
