AmaZulu FC have roped in Siboniso Vilakazi, the former KZN Academy U19 Coach, in preparation for the upcoming 2020/21 MDC Season.
The club’s General Manager, Lunga Sokhela confirmed the appointment ahead of the start of the Multichoice Diski Challenge 2020/21 season.
“We’re excited to announce that Mr Sboniso Nini will take over from Ayanda Dlamini as the coach of the MDC squad at AmaZulu Football Club for the coming season,” he said. “Even though we don’t know when it will officially start due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. He will join us soon, to work closer also with the first team.”
Sokhela, who holds Vilakazi in high regard, says expectations of senior officials at the club are peaking at the appointment.
“On behalf of the AmaZulu Football Club family, magement, owners and directors we’d like to welcome Siboniso Nini Vilakazi and wish all the best in his new journey,” said Sokhela.
The 38-year-old, hailing from Mtubatuba expressed delight in the association with “Inyok’ Eluhlazan’ Umabonw’ Abulawe.”
“I am really happy and excited that the team saw potential in me as a local coach. Sometimes it is not nice as young and upcoming coaches to have to venture outside of the province in your endeavors to grow,” said Vilakazi. “Obviously my main objective will be to see through young players from all ranks and chanel the best and as many into the first team.”
Vilakazi will take over the reigns from Ayanda Dlamini, following his promotion to the first team as head coach on a permanent contract.
“They’ll be big shoes to fill because coach Ayanda Dlamini did well previously as coach, but such is the role of everybody involved in ensuring AmaZulu is afforded the rightful respect it deserves as a top brand in the province and in the country by nurturing the best talent,” he said.
Vilakazi has been with the KZN Academy since 2014 and previously coached Mtubatuba outfit The Bafanas.Share
