Usuthu take aim at Birds


AmaZulu will be in search of their first Absa Premiership victory of 2014/15 when they visit Moroka Swallows at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday, 13 August 2014, kick-off at 19h30.

Usuthu got the new league season off to an unbeaten start as they played to a 0-0 draw against Ajax Cape Town at home this past Sunday.

Craig Rosslee’s men are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with one point from as many matches.

Their next three league opponents are Orlando Pirates (away), Bloemfontein Celtic (home) and Mamelodi Sundowns (away).

Swallows started their league campaign with an impressive 2-1 away win over Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.

The Birds are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with three points from one match.

Their next three league opponents are Mamelodi Sundowns, Polokwane City (both home) and Bidvest Wits (away).

In head-to-head stats, Swallows and AmaZulu have met in 50 league matches since 1985.

The Birds have 18 wins compared to 14 for Usuthu, while 18 matches have been drawn.

Swallows have won 10 of their 25 home matches against AmaZulu, suffering just five defeats in the process.

Last season Usuthu took four points off the Birds, winning 1-0 in Durban before drawing 0-0 in the return match in Soweto.
