Usuthu out to maintain winning in Stellenbosch

AmaZulu FC will travel to the Danie Craven Stadium where they are scheduled to face Stellenbosch FC in the DStv Premiership match on Friday.

Kick-off is at 17h00 CAT.

Usuthu claimed a 1-0 victory over Black Leopards in a match that was played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on April 4.

Siyethemba Sithebe scored the only goal of the match for the KwaZulu-Natal giants as they racked up a fifth successive league win.

AmaZulu have claimed 16 points from 10 away matches this season.

Aside from Leopards, Usuthu have also beaten Chippa United, Baroka FC and Kaizer Chiefs on the road this term.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch were held 2-2 at Kaizer Chiefs in a match that took place at the FNB Stadium on April 6.

Stellies’ goals came from Nathan Sinkala and Phathutshedzo Nange, but they have now gone three league matches without a win.

Stellenbosch have claimed 10 points from as many home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 1-1 draw with SuperSport in March.

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Stellenbosch have met in three top-flight league clashes since 2019/20.

Usuthu boast an unbeaten record, with two wins and a draw, while the Cape side’s only previous home clash in the rivalry ended 1-1.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Kings Park Stadium in January 2021, AmaZulu claimed a 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Bonginkosi Ntuli and Lehlohonolo Majoro.
