Usuthu look to end year on winning note

AmaZulu will play host to Chippa United in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 15h30 CAT.

Usuthu were beaten 2-0 by their KwaZulu-Natal rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows at home in a match which was played on December 16.

AmaZulu, who are placed 12th on the league standings, have claimed five points from four home matches this season.

This includes their only win of the campaign: a 2-0 triumph over Black Leopards back in early November 2020.

Meanwhile, Chippa were beaten 1-0 by Orlando Pirates away in a match which was played on December 16.

The Chilli Boys, who are placed 14th on the league standings, have claimed just one point from four away matches this season.

That point came from a 1-1 draw at Cape Town City in the opening round of the current campaign.

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Chippa have met in 10 league matches since the 2012/13 season.

The Chilli Boys have claimed seven wins compared to one for Usuthu, while two games have been drawn.

Last season, Chippa secured a 2-0 win over AmaZulu at the Princess Magogo Stadium in the first round match.

The Chilli Boys also defeated Usuthu 1-0 in the return game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
