Usuthu eye third successive win at Chippa

AmaZulu FC will be away to Chippa United at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in the DStv Premiership match on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 17h00 CAT.

Usuthu secured a 1-0 win over SuperSport United in their previous league game which took place on March 2.

Siphelele Mthembu’s first-half goal earned the KwaZulu-Natal giants a well-deserved victory at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium.

AmaZulu have now taken 16 points from the last 18 up for grabs.

Usuthu have claimed 10 points from eight away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs in mid-February.

Meanwhile, Chippa succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in their previous league game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on March 6.

The Chilli Boys have gone five league games without a victory and they have claimed six points from as many home matches this season.

The Eastern Cape-based side’s only victory as hosts was against Maritzburg United in November 2020.

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Chippa have met in 11 league matches since 2012/13.

The Chilli Boys have claimed seven wins compared to two for Usuthu, while two games have been drawn.

The Eastern Cape side has recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat from five home matches in the rivalry.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Kings Park Stadium in December 2020, AmaZulu claimed a 3-1 win (their first at home against Chippa) thanks to goals from Augustine Mulenga and Luvoyo Memela (two).
