Usuthu eye second successive win

AmaZulu FC will welcome Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, 9 February 2019.

Kick-off at 20h15.

Usuthu claimed one of the biggest wins of the season when they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 away on January 29, with an own goal from Tebogo Langerman and a strike from Ovidy Karuru.

Usuthu, who became the first team to defeat the defending champions Sundowns this season, have claimed 17 points from 10 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 3-2 loss to Kaizer Chiefs last month.

Attackers Bonginkosi Ntuli and Ovidy Karuru have been in good form for Cavin Johnson’s side this season and they will be keen to inspire the team to victory against City.

Meanwhile, City claimed a second successive league win when they edged Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 away from home on January 30.

The Citizens, who have picked up 13 points from the last 15 up for grabs, have claimed 12 points from eight away matches this season, while they have won three of their last four games on the road.

Midfielders Thabo Nodada and Teko Modise are key players in the City team and the two players will be eager to help Benedict ‘Benni’ McCarthy’s side win.

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and City have met in three previous top-flight league matches.

The Citizens have claimed two wins compared to one for Usuthu.

The Durban’s side only previous home match in the rivalry was a 1-0 win in the second half of the 2017/18 season.

When the teams met earlier in this campaign, at the Cape Town Stadium in late October 2018, City claimed a 3-0 home win.
