Usuthu eye KZN Derby bragging rights

AmaZulu FC will visit their KwaZulu-Natal rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership match at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.

Usuthu proved too strong for Cape Town City in their last league game as they emerged 5-1 winners at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.

Augustine Mulenga, Thapelo Xoki, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Luvoyo Memela and Siyethemba Sithebe all scored as Usuthu extended their unbeaten in the league to 15 matches.

Usuthu have claimed 22 points from 12 away matches this season and they have not lost on the road since a 4-3 reverse at Mamelodi Sundowns back in November last year.

Meanwhile, Arrows managed to hold Mamelodi Sundowns to a 0-0 draw in their previous league game at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.

The result saw Abafana Bes’thende extended their unbeaten run to nine matches in the league.

Abafana Bes’thende have claimed 21 points from 12 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 1-1 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic in April.

In head-to-head stats, Arrows and AmaZulu have met in 27 league matches since 2001/02.

Both Usuthu and Abafana Bes’thende have claimed 11 wins, while five games have been drawn.

The team clad in gold and green has recorded six wins, two draws and five defeats from 13 home matches in the rivalry.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Kings Park in December 2020, Arrows claimed a 2-0 away win.
