Usuthu eye Arrows scalp in KZN Derby

AmaZulu FC will travel to the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium where they are scheduled to face Lamontville Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership match on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.

Usuthu were defeated 2-1 by Highlands Park in their previous league game which was played in Tembisa on Tuesday, August 27.

They are winless after four rounds of the 2019/20 league season having accumulated one point in the process.

AmaZulu will be keen secure their first victory of the season when they face their KwaZulu-Natal rivals.

Meanwhile, Arrows recorded their first draw of the season when they held Orlando Pirates 0-0 in Soweto on Wednesday, August 28.

Abafana Bes’thende have also recorded two wins (over Maritzburg United and Chippa United) as well as a 5-0 loss (to Bloemfontein Celtic) so far in 2019/20.

In head-to-head stats, Arrows and AmaZulu have met in 24 league matches since 2001/02.

Usuthu have claimed 11 wins compared to nine for Abafana Bes’thende, while four matches have been drawn.

The team clad in gold and green has recorded six wins, one draw and five defeats from 12 matches as hosts in this rivalry.

Last season AmaZulu took four points off Arrows, winning 2-0 at home in December 2018 (with a brace of goals from Bonginkosi Ntuli) before playing out a 1-1 draw in the return game in April 2019.

Usuthu have won seven of the last 10 league meetings of the teams.
