Spur and AmaZulu treat children to Christmas lunch

A group of 30 children are already feeling the Christmas spirit after spending a day with Usuthu first team players at Suncoast’s Spur on Friday, 12 December 2014.

The children from Durban YMCA’s After School Programme were treated to lunch and showered with gifts from Spur and AmaZulu. The young group later watched an AmaZulu first team training at Moses Mabhida Outer Fields.

Spur Area Manager, Keith Khumalo said the food franchise was only glad to put a smile in the young children’s faces.

“This is part of our DNA as Spur to give back to the community and we’re glad AmaZulu too as a KZN brand recognize this need and with them we look forward to more things to come,” he said.

AmaZulu defenders, Sedat Auro-Akoriko, Willem Mwedihanga, midfielder John Arwuah and striker Mfanafuthi Dlamini took the role of Santa Claus as they entertained the youngsters.

AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa and AmaZulu PR & Communications Manager Philani Mabaso also had their share of fun as the latter had his face painted.

“We’re grateful to Spur whom we’ve also partnered with on their Spur Masidlale football project.”

“Today was all about giving the kids an opportunity to interact with football players, and just make their day after a long year of studying as they look forward to the festive season,” said Mabaso.
