Bonginkosi Ntuli has received praise from AmaZulu coach Steve Barker for his contribution to their 3-1 win over Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday night.
Ntuli, who is on loan in Durban from Mamelodi Sundowns, scored once and provided an assist as Usuthu recorded a second win from their last three league matches.
It was Ntuli’s third goal since arriving from ‘Downs in January and Barker believes the striker is steadily improving.
“It’s good seeing a player like Bongi Ntuli coming back to his best, knowing the first of his two, three games he was not match fit,” Barker said after the match against the Clever Boys.
“He is getting on the score-sheet and everybody is putting in goals and I think our set-pieces, we are looking very dangerous all the time.
“In open play we are showing good capabilities as well.”
Barker also praised his team’s character in holding off Wits, who threatened a comeback in the last third of the match.
“You could see the last 25 minutes we were under immense pressure from a team that is really good,” says Barker.
“It was great togetherness and great unity as a team and they defended the lead pretty well, so I’m very pleased.
“But it is important that we understand there is still a long road to go… we need more of these performances but I am pleased with the players’ effort.”
AmaZulu will next be in action on Friday night when they face Chippa United away from home.Share
