AmaZulu FC Head Coach, Benni McCarthy has praised his charges for yet another gallant home display at the Johnsson Kings Park as they beat TS Galaxy 2-1 in the DStv Premiership.
Usuthu did however relinquish their 6 match clean sheet against the Rockets, but were glad to stretch their unbeaten run to 14 matches.
McCarthy said in his post match interview: “Three more points for us. I am very delighted. I am very happy with the performance, the attitude from the players and the way we handled ourselves.”
“We started the game well. We did not wait for them, to see what the opposition would bring at us, because when we are at home we try and be clinical, we try and be direct by taking the fight to anybody.”
“We were slightly a bit disappointed with our last home game, playing Mamelodi Sundowns where did not get the three points. We said today is the game where we need to lift ourselves up. The game came three days after Sundowns, so this is the perfect way to bounce back with the three points.”
“We put more pressure on everybody else. Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns who have overtaken us.”
“We wanted to put our minds right because we have two more very difficult games coming up. If we collect three points, it will count in our favour.”
Lehlohonolo Majoro’s first half double strike did the business for the 43-year-old tactician as they closed the gap on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with three points separating both sides.
“I am very happy with the overall performance with every single player, the starting eleven and the ones who came off the bench and made a difference. The game went according to plan,” continued McCarthy.
AmaZulu travel to Cape Town to face McCarthy’s former employers, Cape Town City on Wednesday followed by a mouthwatering Derby against bitter rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday.Share
