AmaZulu forward Lehlohonolo Majoro is eager to finish the 2020-21 DStv Premiership season on a high.
Usuthu have three games remaining in the league season, the first of which will take place on Thursday against one of Majoro’s former teams, Orlando Pirates. Kick-off at Orlando Stadium is set for 5pm CAT.
A 1-0 loss to Baroka FC ended a 16-game unbeaten run, but Benni McCarthy’s team still have second spot on lock and will take a huge step towards Caf Champions League football next season with three points in Orlando.
“The preparation has been going okay,” said Majoro.
“All we have to do is to pick ourselves up after a loss against Baroka and get back to winning ways. It would help us to get three points because this [Pirates] is a team that we are fighting more or less the same race with so a win would be like a six-pointer for us.”
Majoro has enjoyed a good season and goes into the final three games of the campaign having notched up eight goals in 17 league starts.
The 34-year-old highlighted the fierce competition within the AmaZulu squad and is mindful of what he needs to do in order to retain his place in the starting XI.
“As a player you are as good as your last game. With the players we have in the squad no one is guaranteed a position so whenever you are given an opportunity you have to always do better for the team,” Majoro added.
“I believe that we are on course for our own bit of history as AmaZulu players in terms of reaching the highest number of points in a league season. So we would really love to extend that and finish in a comfortable position.”Share
