Khumalo, Khuzwayo on national duty

First team central midfielder Andile Khumalo has not been part of the AmaZulu set upof late after being given the thumbs up to play for ‘Amajita’.

‘Ace’ spoke to after another day in the camp ahead of their African Youth Championships which begins in Johannesburg from 17th of April to 1st May 2011.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’ve learned a lot already. I phoned the coach the coach and the team manager yesterday (Tuesday) and they both wished me good luck.

I think we can do the nation proud too. We have good players from teams like Supersport and Kaizer Chiefs who are capable,” said the Newcastle born midfielder.

The newly assembled squad that will be mentored by Maqsood ‘Macky’ Chania are in the same Group as Mali, Lesotho and Egypt.

Other opponents the u20 side should be wary of in Group B are Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Gambia.

Goal keeper Nhlanhla Khuzwayo’s safe pair of hands will be needed sooner by the u23s as the side coached by Shakes Mashaba will do battle with Libya in Bamako, Mali.

South Africa will need to pull-out all the stops to repeat their 4-2 brilliance they were in the first leg as an away win will put them in a good chance of qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics.
