Eyes Still on the Ball for Teyise and Zwane.

AFCON action might be taking centre stage but AmaZulu young sons defender, Tamsanqa Teyise and midfielder Dumisani Zwane believe the halt in PSL action is no time to relax but a time to get things right.

Former SAPS Callies defender Tamsanqa Teyise has noted a level of unity at training which he says can be a key to many triumphs in the tough tests which lie in wait.

“For me the friendlies make the most difference because they help to see where you are in your level of fitness.

Going forward this will help us because we’ve been training and playing under tough conditions in terms of the heat, when we take on Sundowns I think we will be ready in all aspects,” said the man from Eastern Cape.

AmaZulu played two friendly matches with a DRC Invitational side and Zululand amateur side, Blue Stars. Coach Roger Palmgren’s side won 9-2 and 9-0 on both matches respectively.

The boys in green and white have conceded just 10 goals in the league which is a notch better than in the 2010/11 season.

The 25 year old admits this time opponents will raise the bar in the second round but says steady communication at the back will see the team prevail.

Fast as lightning bolt left-winger, Dumisani Zwane said his vital areas of improving have been his shooting.

The former Amajuba Young Killers player has already recorded one goal in his rookie season but added that now is the right time to come out of his shell.

“The training and friendly matches will help us improve on our finishing because we’ve been poor there in some instances.

The coach for now seems to be checking how he will have us play, so we’re all working hard to help him find the right combinations,” said the man nicknamed Cesc.

This week they will play a friendly match with neighbours Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

The Durban side kick off the second round calendar by hosting top of the log Mamelodi Sundowns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 15 February, and then they meet Free State Stars away on the 18th February at Goble Park.
