AmaZulu FC goalkeeper Neil Boshoff is pleased to have reunited with coach Ayanda Dlamini in the club’s first team.
The duo worked together in Usuthu’s reserve team which completes in the Premier Soccer League (PSL)’s reserve league, MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC).
Boshoff moved on to the first team and he made his top-flight league debut in a big clash against Orlando Pirates in August 2019 – keeping a clean sheet in the process.
The duo was reunited in the first team in March 2019 when Dlamini was appointed interim coach as Usuthu looked to retain their status in the elite league.
“I really enjoy working with coach Ayanda,” Boshoff said.
“Because when I initially arrived at AmaZulu coach Ayanda was still playing here [as a striker] at that time and he was a great inspiration to me at that time.”
Dlamini handed Boshoff a start against Baroka FC in August 2020 after the 2019/20 season resumed in a Bio-Bubble in Gauteng.
The 24-year-old did not disappoint as he kept a clean sheet with AmaZulu collecting an important point and ultimately, the team finished 13th on the league standings and retained their status in the top-flight.
Boshoff is looking forward to working with Dlamini, who was recently appointed permanent AmaZulu head coach, in the new 2020/21 campaign.
“So, I have a huge amount of respect for him. I have also worked under him when I was playing MDC and enjoyed myself there,” he added.
“I really respect him as a coach and a person, so looking forward to working with him more this coming season.”
The Premiership will now be called the DStv Premiership for the 2020/21 season and beyond.Share
