Clarity on the role of AmaZulu General Manager

A local IsiZulu publication reported on 15/10/2015 that there is confusion at the club regarding the role our previous General Manager, Peter O’Connor.

In light of what Ilanga Newspaper reported, club management have taken the decision to give clarity on the issue.

As announced on 21 September Lunga Sokhela is now the General Manager and has already started in this position with carrying out structural plans as per the directors’ mandate.

O’Connor now heads up the club’s social responsibility wing – the AmaZulu Community Trust alongside the current Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa.

“It is unfortunate that people choose to make such claims, Peter O’Connor and myself have worked together for many years and the change doesn’t confuse anyone.

“There is no real need for further explanations. Management would like to make it known that no confusion or any possible rift exists at the club regarding the above mentioned facts,” said Sokhela.

Last week the new General Manager met with staff members, players and the technical team to outline the way forward as well as the club directors’ vision.

According to Sokhela all structural changes that have occurred are in-line with the club’s vision to take the club back to its rightful position in South African football.

“The club would like to assure all AmaZulu supporters and stakeholders that our mission remains to fight for our place back in the PSL,” he added.
