AmaZulu FC head coach Benni McCarthy praised his players’ commitment following their recent win over Baroka FC on Saturday.
Two goals from Bonginkosi Ntuli and Siphelele Magubane inspired Usuthu to a 2-0 win over Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele in a DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The win ended Usuthu’s four-match winless run in the league and the KwaZulu-Natal giants climbed up to eighth place on the standings.
“Well deserved three points,” McCarthy said.
“I was a bit concerned coming here after playing such a difficult game against SuperSport [United] where we should have taken all three points, but we didn’t.”
It was McCarthy’s second win as Usuthu coach having started his tenure with a 3-1 win over Chippa United at home on December 20.
“The bus trip to here, the heat. But you now what? These players are just a bunch of winners,” he continued.
“It’s very difficult for a coach not to succeed when you have got players like these who are willing to work hard. Willing to put in the effort and willingness to learn and get better.
“We started the game like we finished the SuperSport game. High spirited, but you know what?
“We have been playing fantastic football and it was just a matter of time to start finding our feet and become a little bit more clinical in front of goal.”
AmaZulu will now take on Stellenbosch FC in their next game which will be played at the Kings Park Stadium on Friday.Share
