AmaZulu’s head coach Steve Barker has expressed the importance of education, especially for three young players that have recently joined his first team.
Goalkeeper Mpemdulo Dlamini and midfielders Menzi Ndwandwe and Nkanyiso Zungu might have achieved their dream of cracking a first team place, but they must balance it with their academics.
“School is very important and we want our players to make sure that they strike the balance between the two and we will give them the support,” he said.
The trio train in the afternoon with the senior team, after having impressed Barker during their time in the club’s junior ranks.
With the NFD Under 23 rule, which says five players under the age of 23 must start each game, the youngsters will get game time under Barker who said he is happy with how they are adapting.
“I am happy with how they are adapting and we will not be putting too much pressure on them because we want them to complete their matric,” he said.Share
