AmaZulu coach Steve Barker says their 2-1 win against Moroka Swallows on Saturday is not just a win but it will go a long in helping his side.
Usuthu have registered two wins in the New Year having defeated Vasco Da Gama 4-1 and the Dube Birds leaving the coach pleased with his team’s showing on the day.
Goals by the experienced Siyabonga Nomvethe and Petrus Shitembi ensured the Durban-based club bagged the full three points and are now placed in 8th spot on the National First Division log table.
“It’s an extremely important win, it was a battle and we showed a great character and to play on a pitch that wasn’t really conducive,” said Barker.
“It’s unfortunate but the game was very tough especially second half, we had to hold on to our lead, credit to Swallows, they never stopped trying.
“They put us under a lot of pressure but yeah, a good game and a big win all in all for us.”
Speaking about Bhele’s influence, Barker adds that the veteran forward has brought goals.
“Bhele brings goals, goals and goal look, the two goals he scored in two games is a big plus for us,” adds the coach.
“He’s experienced you know you can see in the last 10 to 15 minutes, he held the ball and won a couple of free kicks for us, off the field – he’s huge for the club.
“Young players sit next to him and in the change room, they look at his achievements and he’s an inspiration on and off the field.
“He’s got the qualities of a top striker and there’s a goal he scored but it was deemed offside, the way he took shows his quality.”
Usuthu will no prepare for their upcoming encounter against FC Cape Town at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday, 31.Share
