After a good break from National First Division action, AmaZulu coach Steve Barker has expressed that they are ready to hit the ground running.
AmaZulu will host Thanda Royal Zulu on Tuesday at the Princess Magogo Stadium in a Nedbank Cup encounter at 3pm.
“After the Santos match we gave the players a one week break to refresh mentally and emotionally. Our fitness and conditioning is looking sharp since all the players returned. The break was good re looking fresh and working hard,” Barker said.
Barker said the encounter against Thanda will not be easy but he is looking forward to the challenge.
“It certainly will not be an easy match since they have a new coach. We needed this type of challenge as we have been treating each game like a cup competition.
“The players are all ready except Marc Van Heerden and Linda Bhengu who are both not available. With Van Heerden injured and also on suspension, we will have to do without him. Bhengu has still not returned at training,” said Barker.
The coach said he will be looking at the quality of his under 23 players to man up for this cup game as well as their National First Division match on Saturday.
“We have quality young players in the side and I believe they will do well. With Sifiso Hlanti not being available there are opportunities and we must now close that gap,” he said.Share
