A home victory against one of the most competitive teams in the National First Division on Saturday resulted in coach Steve Barker giving credit to his players.
This 1-0 victory over Black Leopards saw Usuthu moving to fourth spot on the log.
“I think it was a well deserved win. I must give credit to the players for their hard work and positive attitude in this game,” said Barker.
With experienced striker Ayanda Dlamini getting a red card, the coach said he is disappointed but this will give other players a chance.
“It was very disappointing to lose Ayanda in that manner. I believe he was going to add much value in our game away from home this week.
“Having said so, we have other quality players that are waiting for the opportunity and that is just the situation,” he said.
The experienced coach also gave Bornwell Mwape some credit for scoring the winning goal.
“Bornwell is slowly getting his confidence back. He is a quality player who has now scored four goals. I am happy with the role he has been playing and I’m sure more will come from him,” he said.
Going into Wednesday’s game against Milano FC, Barker said it will be important to keep the winning mentality.
“I know I have been saying this for some time but it is important that we start winning some games in a row and I believe we are getting there.
“Robyn Johannes and Linda Bhengu have both recovered from injuries and will be available for the Wednesday game,” he said.Share
