Amazulu grab a point off Stars

AmaZulu’s top striker Lehlohonolo ‘Major-General’ Majoro scooped yet another accolade in his maiden season as he scored a late equaliser in the away encounter against AmaZulu.

The match ended 1-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The home side’s Aleni Lebyane handed the Bethlehm-based side an early lead, but ‘Usuthu’ fought back and salvaged a draw right at the dearth with an 89th minute penalty from the on-form Majoro.

The home team exerted pressure from the first whistle searching for an early goal but their strikers were firing blanks.

Mpho Makola played a beautiful through pass and on-form Stars striker Alen Lebyane slotted the ball home to give Stars a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second stanza started at a high pace with Stars trying to double their advantage but they were kept at bay by the AmaZulu defenders.

Stars played carpet football, creating numerous scoring chances, but Thabo Matlaba and Makola squandered those opportunities.

In the middle of the stanza, AmaZulu gained some momentum and were rewarded in the 88th minute when defender Mantei Moholo handled the ball inside the box, resulting in a penalty. AmaZulu’s top goalscorer Lehlohonolo Majoro beat keeper Kennedy Mwenee to make the score 1-1.
