The 2020 public school’s calendar got underway this week and our boys at the Ohlange High School and Glenwood High School are raring to go.
The academy program’s coordinator and youth coach, Khaya Mngwengwe and his fellow coaches welcomed five new pupils into the Ohlange program at the Prime High-Performance Institute today.
Meanwhile, the AmaZulu Glenwood Academy orientation was held this past Wednesday at the school’s facilities.
Mngwengwe, eager to start the programme, explained the objectives behind the orientations for this year.
“We’re trying to make sure that we meet the parents so that communication lines are clear between ourselves, the players, parents and the schools. It is always to start the school program that way so that everyone plays their part,” he said.
Usuthu first team players, as well as Ohlange High School and Glenwood High School graduates, Sphesihle Maduna and Sbusiso Magaqa, were also present to offer their support to their younger peers in the set up.
Ohlange Principal, Siyanda Nxumalo, welcomed the new pupils whilst also advising them for life at the school, which has produced many greats.
Build It’s Philani Mabaso, was also on hand, representing the club’s U13 sponsor, which this year saw two players joining the bursary program.
More than 20 players are enrolled in the Glenwood program with 16 of them on bursaries, whilst all 16 players enrolled into Ohlange High School program are on bursary as well.
