The launch of the Zululand Extravaganza revealed on 14 June that the Zululand District will be a hive of activity on 28 – 30 July with the inaugural Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup and Gumba Fest coming to town.
AmaZulu FC, Bloemfontein Celtic, Mbabane Swallows, and a Zululand District Squad will form part of a four team tournament that will participate in honour of Prince of KwaPhindangene Mangosuthu Buthelezi at Ulundi Stadium on 30 July.
Tickets will cost R30 for adults and R10 for children. Proceeds will go to CSI initiatives in the district.
AmaZulu General Manager, Lunga Sokhela rallied the people of Zululand to come out in their numbers to embrace the tournament.
“It is with great pleasure that we take part in such an auspicious occasion and we are equally glad that clubs such as Mbabane Swallows and Bloemfontein Celtic also raised their hands.
“Ndabezitha Prince Mangosuthu has his name attached to this wonderful project being the nephew of Usuthu founder King Solomon KaDinizulu. He is also son of Princess Magogo KaDinizulu whom our home stadium is named after.
“We are calling upon all entertainment and football loving citizens to come out in their numbers to get an experience of what Zululand has to offer,” said Sokhela.
The draw will be held on 28 July. Kickoff times: 09:00am, 11:30am and 15:30pm (Final). Afrotainment will take on Ukhozi FM in an exhibition match on the day.
Zululand District Municipality Mayor, Councillor Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi expressed his delight at the economic boost next month’s festival will generate.
“The people of Zululand have shown great gratitude for the role of Prince Mangosuthu has had in the district as a whole.
“Our people will support this project with open arms. We are very excited about the opportunity the weekend has in store for us, especially for such a district that is poor and survives on agriculture and tourism,” said Buthelezi.
The Gumba Fest line up which includes Dj Tira, Big NUZ, Babes Wodumo, Khuzani Mpungose, Ricky Rick among other artists will be held on 29 July (Saturday). Ticket prices: R100 (from 1 May – 10 June), R150 (1 July – 25 July), & R200 (27 July up until the show).
There will be a Boot Camp special edition for fitness fanatics in the area hosted by Sbahle Mpisane at Ulundi Garden Court which will be on free entry and first come first serve basis from 07h00am to 09h00am on 29 July. This is to promote a healthy lifestyle among all citizens of Zululand.Share
