AmaZulu’s international players Paul Were Ooko and Bornwell Mwape both scored a brace when the club played a friendly match against Mbabane Swallows in Swaziland on Wednesday.
Their four goals saw the club clinching a 4-1 victory of which manager Japhet Zwane said he was pleased with the performance of the players.
The 22 year old Zambia international Mwape signed for the club in early 2014 and is promising to bring greater change in the front line.
When the 24-year old Were was signed, the plan was to use his speed and convert him into a prolific striker at AmaZulu.
“The friendly matches went well. The players are looking good and healthy. We are happy with how these friendly matches turned out because it gave us a clear indication of where we are,” said Zwane.
The good news is that Marc Van Heerden is back in full force and goalkeeper Siyabonga Mngoma is back in training but has not yet recovered fully.
“Marc is back and is doing well. It is only Mngoma who has not recovered 100 percent but he has been with us during the friendly matches although he was not playing.”Share
