Vilane – One game at a time had a chat with Usuthu utility player Siyabonga Vilane to discuss his role in the team and how the club can end 2012 on a high note. How would you describe your season so far?

Siyabonga Vilane: Everything has been going well; I completed preseason and I haven’t had any injury problems. I’ve had some time on the field in recent games and I hope I’ll be able to help my team. The competition for places is tough – how do you stay motivated if you have to be on the bench or in the stands?

SV: At the start of the season I wasn’t playing but I told myself that I have to work extra hard to make sure that when my chance comes I’ll be ready to make use of it.

We have many good players in the team and it’s impossible for the coach to use everyone at the same time, but he is always pushing all of us to improve. As a player who is capable of playing in defence, midfield and as a striker
