AmaZulu defender Marc Van Heerden says his side will be motivated by their hunger for silverware when they kick off their Telkom Knockout campaign next weekend.
The 25-year-old is yet to get his hands on a trophy since joining the club during the 2008/09 season, but he believes they have the right balance to challenge for honours this time around.
“We are eager and we want to win trophies this season so we’re excited to get the cup run on the go,” said Van Heerden.
“We start win an away game against Free State Stars and that is always a difficult trip but we are hungry and we want to go through and fight for the cup.
“If we continue with what we have been doing in the league, but obviously improve on the mistakes, I think we’ll do well.
“We’ve been playing good football and fighting hard as a team and if we go into the game with the same attitude and follow the coach’s tactics, then we’ll be successful.
“Free State Stars are a good side but at the end of the day it’s up to us to show how much we really want it.”
AmaZulu will visit Free State Stars at Goble Park on Saturday, 5 October 2013, at 3pm.
