AmaZulu defender Marc Van Heerden believes his side will be ready for a tough test when they host neighbours Maritzburg United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.
Usuthu will be eager to put Tuesday night’s 7-1 loss against Mamelodi Sundowns behind them and the fullback believes the whole team needs to improve.
“We just had a bad day at the office; we didn’t follow the game plan to a tee and we made silly mistakes,” said Van Heerden.
“It’s not just the defenders who were to blame, we didn’t play to our potential as a team but now we have to think about how we’re going to respond in the next match.
“It’s not going to be an easy game; it’s always difficult to play against Maritzburg. They always have something to prove against us and vice versa, so it’s a big game for both teams.
“We just have to keep focused; the loss on Tuesday was not us and I’m sure the guys will pull it together.
“We don’t need much to psyche ourselves up for any match but it’s a derby and I think we’ll be ready.”Share
