Usuthu left-back Marc Van Heerden will begin his dream of training with the Bafana Bafana squad this week after being drafted into Gordon Igesund’s side that will face Nigeria and Burkina Faso respectively.
AmaZulu Team Manager Japhet Zwane confirmed that the former University of Pretoria man will begin his training with Bafana on Monday afternoon.
“It is going to be a good thing for Marc and the entire team that we have a player in the national team and also for the technical team. It means they’re doing a great job now for the national team coach to see players worthy of representing Bafana Bafana within our fold,” said Zwane.
Van Heerden replaces SuperSport United’s Innocent Mdledle who was reported to have suffered injury.
According to Zwane who himself has represented Bafana at international level during his playing days, the ball is in the left back’s court.
“Marc must give it his all because these chances are very slim, it’s up to him to make a mark,” added Zwane,
South Africa will play Nigeria on Wednesday, 14 August 2013 at Moses Mabhida Stadium (20h00) and on 17 August 2013 they take on Burkina Faso at FNB Stadium.Share
