Usuthu were knocked out of the 2017 Telkom Knockout Cup when they lost 3-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in the Last 16 match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Prior to the encounter, AmaZulu had defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in a league match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium over a week ago.
The Durban-based outfit, who lost to Polokwane City in their last league home match, have recorded two wins, two defeats and one draw in their last five Absa Premiership games.
AmaZulu are placed ninth on the league standings with 11 points from eight matches. They are three points behind third-placed Orlando Pirates, who have played nine games.
Usuthu coach Cavin Johnson will be eager to mastermind a victory over Baroka FC in order for AmaZulu to move back into the top eight.
Meanwhile, Baroka booked their place in the Telkom Knockout Cup quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Cape Town City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Before facing the Citizens, Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele had lost 1-0 to Bidvest Wits in a league match at home over a week ago.
This was the Limpopo-based side’s first league defeat of the season. They have two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five Absa Premiership matches.
Baroka are placed at the top of the league standings with 16 points from nine matches. They are a point above second-placed Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Kgoloko Thobejane, the Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele coach, will be looking to ensure that his side remains at the top of the log with a win over Usuthu.
