AmaZulu goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini is currently ineligible to play for the club as he is still waiting for his South African permanent residency permit.
The 29-year-old joined Premier Soccer League side Platinum Stars (then Silver Stars) in 2006 from Zimbabwean outfit Highlanders FC and spent five years with the club before joining Usuthu at the start of the 2011/12 season.
“We’re still working on the paperwork, the application is in progress but we can’t really say how long it’s going to take,” said the club’s Public Relations and Communications Manager, Philani Mabaso.
“The player is not registered with the PSL yet but he’s still part of the team.”
Kapini has been a regular starter and captain for Usuthu for the past two seasons, but he was on the sidelines when Usuthu defeated Orlando
Pirates 1-0 in their league opener two weeks ago.
New signing Aubrey Mathibe was included in the starting lineup, with Philani Zikalala on the bench as his cover.
