Usuthu’s continued gallant display at King Zwelithini Stadium cast doubt at Bidvest Wit’s title chances much to the delight workaholic midfielder Siyabonga Sithebe who credited teamwork for their gutsy 2-0 Absa Premiership win on Saturday night in Umlazi.
Sithebe’s performance on the field saw him earn the man of the match accolade and the 26 year old admits that despite of the challenging task, the victory was only down to keeping to team instructions.
“It wasn’t an easy game but through teamwork we were able to win considering the fact that we’re also playing at home which was a huge advantage for us,” he said.
Sithebe also concedes that although Usuthu haven’t had the best of luck in the past two games, he commended the fighting spirit in the squad and also thanked the coach for encouraging them during training.
“I’d like to give credit to the coach for pushing the team during the week in training and for implementing a different system than the one we’re used to , this enabled us to perform much better than we did in the last two matches.”
“It has not been easy, he’s always trying to make us perform at our best all the time.”
“I think what we need to as players moving forward is to keep working hard, keep the momentum going and keep the team spirit as high as possible for the upcoming matches, everyone must work hard,” he concluded.
Usuthu’s next encounter sees them taking on Free State Stars at the Goble Park stadium on 16 March 2019.Share
