AmaZulu will square off with Stellenbosch FC in an National First Division (NFD) game at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 15h00.
Usuthu were defeated 2-0 by Witbank Spurs in their previous league game which was played in Durban almost two weeks ago.
The defeat ended the Durban side’s three-match unbeaten run in the league. Before facing Spurs, they had recorded a victory and two draws.
AmaZulu are placed eighth on the league standings with 29 points from 21 matches. They are five points behind third-placed Stellenbosch.
Mabhuti Khenyeza, the Usuthu veteran striker, will be hoping to rediscover his scoring form and inspire the team to victory in the Mother City.
A victory for Joey Antipas’ side will see the KwaZulu-Natal giants move closer to the top three teams on the league table with eight matches left.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch edged out Jomo Cosmos 1-0 in their previous league game thanks to Mame Niang’s goal in Brakpan almost two weeks ago.
The win extended the Cape Town side’s unbeaten run in the league to six games. They have recorded three draws and three wins during their current run.
Stellenbosch are placed third on the league standings with 34 points from 21 matches. They are only two points behind second-placed Black Leopards.
Muhammad Patel, a former AmaZulu striker, is Stellenbosch’s dangerman having netted four league goals. The forward will look to help his side win at home.
Sammy Troughton’s side are aware of the fact that a victory over Usuthu will seen them maintain their place within the top three on the league table.
When AmaZulu and Stellenbosch clashed in the first-round league game, the latter won 1-0 thanks to Junaid Sait’s goal in Durban five months ago.Share
