Usuthu target maiden win over Chippa United

AmaZulu FC will travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth where they are scheduled to face Chippa United on Friday.

Kick-off at 20h00.

Usuthu broke an eight-game winless streak by defeating Highlands Park 2-1 in Tembisa on November 27.

The victory brought the Durban side their first three points on the road this season.

Usuthu had lost all of their other four matches away from home, scoring zero goals and conceding nine in the process.

They will hope the win over the Lions of the North sparks a turnaround in their struggling
campaign.

Meanwhile, Chippa have gone five league matches without a victory after they held Maritzburg United 0-0 away from home on November 27.

The Eastern Cape side last won a game in early October.

The Chilli Boys have taken seven points from their five home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in late October.

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Chippa have met in six league matches since 2012/13.

The Chilli Boys boast an unbeaten record in the sequence, with four wins and two draws.

The Chilli Boys have recorded one wins and two draws from their three matches as hosts in the rivalry.

Chippa completed a league ‘double’ over AmaZulu last season, winning 2-0 both home and away.
