AmaZulu FC head coach Cavin Johnson has revealed why Emiliano Tade missed the clash against SuperSport United last week.

The Argentine striker joined Usuthu from New Zealand Football Championship giants Auckland City during the current transfer window.

Tade then made his official debut for Usuthu during the 1-0 victory over Baroka FC in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban over a week ago.

However, the 30-year-old marksman did not feature during AmaZulu’s 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United in a league match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria last week.

Johnson disclosed that Tade picked up a stomach bug prior to the encounter with Matsatsantsa.

“Emiliano Tade picked up a stomach bug the morning before the match,” Johnson said.

“It was something that was very weird. He was dehydrated. We decided against fielding him – rather let the player hydrate and be better.

Usuthu are set to welcome Free State Stars in a league game at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.

“Hopefully, he will come back stronger in the next game,” the former Platinum Stars head coach concluded.

The match between AmaZulu and Stars will kick-off at 15h00 CAT.
