New AmaZulu FC defender Sibusiso Mabiliso should be proud of his performance on his competitive debut for Usuthu.
This is according to Usuthu head coach Cavin Johnson, who threw the 18-year-old into the deep end against Chippa United in an Absa Premiership match on Sunday.
Chilli Boys overcame Usuthu 2-0 in an entertaining encounter which was played at the King Zwelithini Stadium with Mabiliso playing the entire match.
“Sibusiso Mabiliso did a fantastic job,” Johnson said when asked about the teenager, who joined AmaZulu last month.
“He was great going up and down in the left-back position. He stood his ground and he played the position very well.
The former Platinum Stars academy player helped South Africa win the 2017 COSAFA Under-20 Championships in Zambia last month.
“He looked comfortable for kid who just came back from the COSAFA tournament which they won. He has been a good kid since the age of 10 years old. So, we have always watched him,” the former Stars head coach added.
“In fact he comes from the crop of players I picked (at Platinum Stars). I know he has the quality. I hope he is able to maintain it and make sure that he makes that position his.”
AmaZulu will travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium where they are scheduled to face Baroka FC in an Absa Premiership match on Sunday.
Kick-off is at 15h30.Share
