Usuthu Reserves promise thriller against Stellenbosch FC in KwaMashu

AmaZulu Reserves goalkeeper, Olwethu Mzimela (18), says they’re confident of taking all three points when they face Stellenbosch FC Reserves this weekend.

The Lamontville born keeper says they’re wary of the attacking threat posed by the visitors and believes a tight defence will be key to bagging the win.

“They’re a good team that likes running. They’re a team that enjoys playing long balls and utilising their wings to get behind the defensive line but we are ready for this,” said Mzimela.

Usuthu collected three points in their last outing at Princess Magogo Stadium, following a convincing 3-0 victory over Cape Town City Reserves in KwaMashu.

Mzimela says they’re looking to put a winning run together in order to overtake Stellenbosch FC and break into the top half of the table.

“We are well prepared for this game, to deal with any situation. We hope to score a few goals but more importantly to keep a clean sheet. We want all three points so we can keep moving up the log,” he said.

AmaZulu Reserves currently sit in 10th on the table, three points behind Stellenbosch FC Reserves. The match kicks off at 10am on 13 October at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
