Usuthu Reserves prepare for 2019/20 season

The AmaZulu Reserves met for the first time this afternoon at Prime prior to kickstarting their training program for the 2019/20 MDC season.

The Reserves technical team led by Head Coach Ayanda Dlamini and Team Manager, Bukelani Mthembu welcomed the players. The pair led their troops into an interactive goal setting exercise for the upcoming season.

First Team Manager, Qedi Dlamini commended the squad for last year’s efforts and encouraged them to go one better in the coming season.

Last season Usuthu finished 6th on the log. They only lost out to rivals Golden Arrows by the head to head tournament rule from going into the last 8 in the Diski Shield.

The PSL has made it mandatory that only players under the age of 21 years will compete in the Multichoice Diski Choice Challenge. The Diski Shield will automatically be played by teams finishing on the top eight bracket of the Diski Challenge.

Usuthu are well placed to comply with the new rules according to Bukelani Mthembu.

“For us we started long time ago to have the core of our squad as players below the age of 21 and we will even have one player at the age of 14 starting with the current group,” said Reserve Team Manager
