AmaZulu will meet provincial rivals Maritzburg United, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits in the first installment of the Msunduzi Cup at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday, 20 July 2019.
Cavin Johnson’s charges will be fresh from a week long pre-season training camp in Johannesburg when they meet The Team of Choice in the first semi-final match billed for 10am kickoff in Pietermaritzburg.
Abafana Bes’thende face off against the Students at 12pm. The final is scheduled for 5pm.
Usuthu fans will get a chance to see a glimpse of what new attacking pair Lehlohonolo Majoro and Andre de Jong may have in store in the new season for the green and white faithful.
“The Msunduzi Cup is a fantastic opportunity for us to get some competitive action under our belts,” Usuthu coach Cavin Johnson said. “It is the first of two important tournaments in the next 10 days as we edge close to the new season.”
Johnson will also look to test some of the club’s youngsters from the reserve team for possibly future reckoning in the new season.
The Msunduzi Cup is the first-ever KZN pre-season tournament to feature exclusively Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs.
Gates will open at 8am with LIVE music provided by exciting local performance artists DJ Thanda, Sphectacula, Naves and DJ Chofy, Tribe of Africa and Usiko Cultural Dancers.
