Usuthu motivated by gallant Nedbank Cup performance


Bonginkosi Ntuli of Platinum Stars is tackled by Vukile Mngqibisa of AmaZulu

AmaZulu defender, Vukile Mngqibisa believes the KZN club’s performance against Platinum Stars on Wednesday night can propel them into action in the remaining National First Division fixtures.

This Sunday AmaZulu take on Witbank Spurs at Princess Magogo Stadium. Kickoff at 15:30pm.

“We are all motivated about the league because we know what is at stake and the coach told us about the importance of the remaining games, but we have to take it them game by game,” said Mngqibisa.

According to the 29 year old stand in captain despite being eliminated from the competition Dikwena were made to fight for their last 16 place by Usuthu.

“It was a very good game because we fought until the 90th minute and it showed that we have depth in our team because everyone tried their best,” he said.

AmaZulu took the lead through Man of the Match, Samuel Darpoh in the first half but surrendered their lead in the 57th minute through a penalty and a quick goal three minutes later.

Joey Antipas’ men bounced back through an excellent outside of the box strike from Boysen Mbatha in the 63’ minute.

Henrico Botes restored the home team’s lead in the 87th minute to knockout the 2010 Nedbank Cup runners up.
