AmaZulu Reserves will be out to avenge their first round 3-2 away loss to Chippa United Reserves when the coastal sides meet on Sunday at Chatsworth Stadium in the 2019/2020 MultiChoice Diski Challenge. Kickoff 09:00.
The more pressing priority for coach Ayanda Dlamini’s side is to cement their 5th log position after an away win over Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 last Saturday.
Usuthu’s marauding left back sensation, Lankie Khoza (19) pays tribute to his teammates for their recent performances which he attributes as a statement of intent in their bid for a better finish compared to last season’s competition.
“The game against chiefs wasn’t an easy one but we managed to play as a team, and we eventually got the three points which is good.”
“I would say the advantage that we had was that we were playing with three defenders at the back because we knew that Chiefs were going to come out guns blazing.”
“I think all in the season so far has been one that has been filled with ups and downs but ‘m extremely happy with where we are now and the position, we’re in right now.”
Chippa United are coming off the back of a 4-3 defeat to Cape Town City. The Port Elizabeth outfit will prove an even harder nut to crack for Usuthu, yet the Witbank born lad maintains they can avenge the first-round loss they suffered at the hands of their opponents.
“I believe that we can and will win against Chippa United because we are much stronger than before and we are compact in our playing structure as well.”
“Chippa United are a good team but I think that they’re backline isn’t fast enough, and we can exploit that because we have talented wingers and strikers that are good at pace as well,” he concluded.
AmaZulu have accumulated 36 points after 22 matches while Chippa remain 12th on the log with 23 points with an equal number of matches.Share
