AmaZulu FC will welcome Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 18h00.

Usuthu are winless in their last two league games after drawing 0-0 with Free State Stars at the Goble Park Stadium last weekend.

They are unbeaten in their last three home games in the league. They beat SuperSport United and Lamontville Golden Arrows, and they drew with Bloemfontein Celtic in Durban.

AmaZulu are placed 10th on the league standings with 27 points from 22 matches. They are only a point behind seventh-placed Baroka FC.

Michael Morton is likely to make his return against Sundowns. The hard-working Usuthu midfielder missed the last two games due to suspension.

Cavin Johnson, the AmaZulu coach, will look to mastermind a victory over Sundowns which would see Usuthu move back into the top eight if the other results go their way.

Meanwhile, Sundowns recorded their second consecutive draw when they drew 1-1 with SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium last weekend.

The Brazilians are now undefeated in their last five league games. They have registered three draws and two wins during their current run.

Sundowns are sitting at the top of the league standings with 40 points from 22 games. They are four points above second-placed Orlando Pirates.

Pitso Mosimane, the Brazilians coach, will be keen to ensure that his side secure a victory over Usuthu which would see them extend their lead at the top of the table.

The last time AmaZulu and Sundowns clashed in a league game was on 21st of October 2017 in the first round round encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Goals from Mabhuti Khenyeza and Siyabonga Nomvethe helped Usuthu beat the Brazilians 2-1 with Thokozani Sekotlong scoring for the hosts.
