Usuthu look to bounce back against Leopards


AmaZulu FC will battle with Black Leopards in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.

Usuthu suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Baroka FC in their previous league game which was played on April 28.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants have claimed 26 points from 14 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 2-0 win over SuperSport United on April 24.

AmaZulu are placed 11th on the league standings – six points above the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Leopards were beaten 2-1 at home by Mamelodi Sundowns in their previous league match which was played on April 30.

Lidoda Duvha have claimed just seven points from 14 away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 3-1 loss at Bidvest Wits on April 24.

The Limpopo side’s only away win was at Baroka FC in January.

Leopards are placed 14th on the league standings – two points above the relegation zone.

In head-to-head stats, Leopards and AmaZulu have met in 13 top-flight league matches since 2001/02.

Both Usuthu and Lidoda Duvha have claimed six wins each, while just one match has been drawn.

The Durban side has claimed four wins from six matches as hosts in the rivalry, suffering two defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Thohoyandou Stadium in December 2018, Leopards claimed a 3-1 home win thanks to goals from Lifa Hlongwane, Tshwarelo Bereng and Mwape Musonda.
