Excitement was in the atmosphere as AmaZulu players Siyabonga Nomvethe, Simphiwe Lumkwana, Somila Ntsundwana and Energy Murambadoro were all part of a countdown blitz to the 2018 National Senior Certificate examinations on 21 September.
The players were accompanying the KwaZulu Natal MEC of Education, Mthandeni Dlungwane along with popular Afrotainment artists in a walkabout KwaMashu’s Bridge City Mall in an exercise geared towards encouraging matric students to study hard.
The MEC encouraged learners to stay focused during the upcoming 20-day period which officially begins on 25 September.
‘’We as the department thought we should go out and interact with the students, along with the players and artists, to ensure that we give them that extra motivation to study hard.’’
He also emphasized the importance of parents and teachers in being available to assist students as they prepare to write these exams.
‘’We ask our parents to give extra support to our learners and the community members to give all the support they can give.’’ said Dlungwane.
Bhele, who hails from the area also had some words of encouragement to give to the learners.
‘’This is a very important time in your lives. Use this opportunity to create a better future for yourself and for the community you come from because education is something no one can ever take away from you,’’ said Nomvethe.
The MEC thanked Usuthu for backing the department for the second year running since the mutual goal between both entities was established last year.Share
