Usuthu concede four to end the 2015-16 NFD season in ninth

AmaZulu suffered a 4-1 defeat to Highlands Park on the final day of the 2015-16 National First Division (NFD) campaign to end the season in ninth spot on the log standings.

The Lions of the North got off to the perfect start at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Sunday, opening the scoring on eight minutes. Cyprian Khambule’s rasping effort whistling past an outstretched Sage Stephens.

The Lions of the North headed into the game knowing that a healthy victory could propel them to the top of the standings, and resorted their lead through Sandile Khwela in the 65th minute.

Pushing for automatic promotion, Allan Freese’ troops doubled their lead through Nicholas Boke in the 87th minute.

Mvala Mothobi put the result beyond any reasonable doubt two minutes later with a superb free-kick as Highlands finished the season in second spot.

Baroka FC were crowned 2015-16 NFD champions despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Milano United.
