The Premier Soccer League has honoured KZN living legends Siyabonga Nomvethe and Cedric Sugar Ray Xulu with the prestigious Chairman’s Award during the 2018/19 awards celebrations which were held at the Durban ICC on 19 May.
PSL Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza presented the all-time leading scorer with a R250 000 prize money to jeers of applause while Usuthu legend Sugar Ray Xulu was present with the same prize in his absence.
‘’Bhele’’, who played his last professional match in Usuthu colours on the 11 May 2019 could barely express his gratitude, he thanked Dr Khoza and the South African footballing community for backing throughout a career spanning over 20 years in the domestic and international front.
‘’I am delighted to receive this award from the PSL Chairman, as it demonstrates how hard I have worked my entire footballing career, I’m truly grateful to everyone who has contributed to my success.’’
‘’I am also very thankful to have ended my career at Usuthu as a home club, they granted me the opportunity to play in my final season as a player in the PSL so it has been an amazing experience,’’ he concluded.Share
