Information coming out of the AmaZulu camp is that coach Steve Barker and the club’s sponsors have agreed to stay put regardless of the club being relegated.
Reports in the media on Friday suggest that Usuthu are in the process of restructuring in preparation for the move to the lower league next season, considering the decrease in monthly grants.
The PSL was paying the Durban-based side R1,5 million compared to the R380,000 paid by the NFD.
According to the club’s PRO, Philani Mabaso, the club’s main sponsor, Spar, have agreed to remain supporting the club.
“At this stage as we are busy with many meetings,” Mabaso was quoted in the media.
“The coach Steve Barker is staying with the club and the sponsors have committed to stay on. That is the only confirmation I can give you now. Other than that nothing has changed.
“Regarding the players, we are busy with that and I’m hoping by the end of this month we will have an idea of who is staying and leaving.”
Despite the club being relegated, captain Robyn Johannes has indicated his desire to stay with Barker’s side, however, Mbulelo Mabizela, Bongani Ndulula as well as Johannes will see their deals coming to an end next month.Share
